For a long time, I thought balance meant doing everything perfectly.
Eating “clean.”
Cooking every meal at home.
Being productive all the time.
Saying yes to everything.
Trying to keep up with what everyone else was doing online.
But getting older…and honestly just living more life …changed my perspective.

These days, balance looks a lot different for me.
Sometimes it’s a home cooked meal with extra vegetables and protein.
Sometimes it’s In-N-Out by the beach after a long day.
Sometimes it’s quick sushi between editing videos and answering emails.
Sometimes it’s comfort food with friends, family, or people I love.
And honestly? I’ve learned all of those moments can exist together.
The Older I Get, the More I Care About Peace
In my 20s and 30s, I felt pressure to constantly do more:
- be more productive
- eat “better”
- keep up with trends
- prove myself
- make everyone happy
Now in my 40s, I care more about:
- peace
- slowing down
- protecting my energy
- realistic routines
- relationships
- food that feels comforting and enjoyable
I still care about wellness, but I don’t believe wellness has to feel extreme.
For me, wellness looks like:
- eating more protein
- cooking simple meals at home
- enjoying vegetables and nourishing foods
- moving my body
- drinking more water
- but also enjoying cravings without guilt
That’s the balance I’ve been trying to create lately.
Meals That Feel Realistic for My Life
A lot of the meals I share online are meals I actually repeat during busy weeks.
Some are homemade.
Some are quick grocery pickups.
Some are restaurant meals.
Some are comfort foods that simply make me happy.
Lately that has looked like:
- salmon skewers at home
- salmon sinigang with rice
- easy sushi lunches while working
- quick wraps and bowls
- Japanese pancakes
- Thai and Lao food with friends
- In-N-Out beach days
- gifted food from people I care about
Nothing overly complicated.
Nothing “perfect.”
Just realistic meals that fit into real life.
Wellness Without Perfection
I think social media sometimes makes wellness feel all-or-nothing.
But I’ve realized balance is rarely aesthetic all the time.
Some weeks are organized meal prep weeks.
Some weeks are survival mode.
Some weeks you cook more.
Some weeks you order takeout.
And that’s okay.
I’ve learned that consistency matters more than perfection.
One burger doesn’t ruin your health.
One salad doesn’t magically fix everything either.
Real wellness is built in the small things we do repeatedly over time..while still allowing ourselves to enjoy life.
Final Thoughts
If you’re trying to find more balance in your life right now, this is your reminder that it doesn’t have to look perfect.
You can enjoy food.
You can rest.
You can slow down.
You can still take care of yourself without constantly chasing extremes.
And honestly… that mindset has brought me more peace than anything else lately 🤍
